I am an American from Los Angeles, California. I came to Finland in
1982 to encounter “Europe’s last frontier” and have stayed here ever
since. This country has given me inspiration and has broadened my
perspective towards life.
During my stay in Finland, I have served as an English-language
trainer and consultant in private firms, colleges and language
institutions. Presently, I am teaching creative writing at Helsinki
University English Department, and giving specialized seminars at
various locations. I am also frequently called upon to give lectures
about my experiences in Finland, and to speak about culture and
lifestyle in the USA.
I have written articles for a variety of magazines, journals and
specialized publications. Subjects covered include: business, travel,
humor, culture, technology, and health; I have written for and
spoken on the radio (the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation). I have
also worked as a language editor for public relations firms,
magazine publishers and other businesses in both the public and
private sector.
Being an author and co-author of several books has brought a very
satisfying element to my writing achievements. My most recent
publications are, The Lighter Side Of Finland and 101 Things To Do
And See In Helsinki, and Four Moods of Finland, which have received
many positive reviews in the media. I have also written the
following textbooks for WSOY: Near You, To Your Health, Why Did You
Come Here? and Painless English. |
